| |  The MLU is the largest University in Saxony-Anhalt (Objective 1, less
favoured region) with ~ 16,000 students. One research focus of the
University is environmental science with a specially dedicated
University Centre for Environmental Sciences (UZU). The Faculty of
Agriculture and the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and
Technology actively contribute with research groups from the
Departments of Biology and Geology. The research facilities for
environmental science and life science are superb include
state-of-the-art molecular DNA laboratories and analytical facilities
which are particularly important for the role MLU plays in ALARM.
