CAB International is an intergovernmental not-for-profit organisation, founded in 1913 in London,
and changing to International status in 1985. Over 40 national states are members of CAB
International. The organisation provides research and information services in the applied life sciences
globally, through its two divisions: CABI Bioscience and CABI Publishing. In its recently produced
Development Strategy (Knowledge for Development: The Role of CAB International) CABI identifies
“Management of alien invasive species” as one of its three key contributions to sustainable
development and the environment, so the subject matter of this module is central to CABI’s interests
and capability.
